Business Innovation Survey 2024 results

To enable the Digital Dairy Chain to follow the success and growth of the businesses and individuals it has supported and engaged with, each year we send the ‘Business Innovation’ survey. This gives us greater insight into the impact of the Digital Dairy Chain project but also demonstrate where there is room for improvement. We have summarised the results from our 2024 survey below.

We are asking everyone to complete the 2025 survey before 14th February 2025 – you will have received an email from Viki Nocker or from ‘Online Surveys’ for you to complete.

Our objective:

Increase in proportion of businesses engaged in:

  • R&D (chart 1)
  • Design investment and collaboration (chart 2)
  • Product or service innovation, new to market innovation, sales of innovative products, services (chart 3)
  • Engaged in the process of innovation

Our objective:

Increase in proportion of businesses engaged in product or service, new to market innovation sales or innovative products, services or engaged in the process innovation.

We also found that 45% of the businesses we engage with or are supported by are carrying out Product/Service innovation.

 

Our objective:

Increased business spend on R&D and employment in the sector increases.

  • £138,000 average business expenditure on in-house R&D annually
  • On average 2.2 people employed by a business who work on R&D
  • On average 1.4 people employed arising from Digital Dairy Chain activity
